Reddit marketing, done properly.
Reddit is where your buyers ask the questions they'd never type into Google with their name attached. It's also where brands get banned faster than anywhere else. Both things are true, and the second one protects the value of the first.
01 · Why bans
Why brands get banned on Reddit
- 01Fresh account, immediate promotion. Reddit's spam filters kill it before a human mod even sees it.
- 02Link-dropping. Answering every question with a URL. Communities flag it within hours.
- 03Company-account voice. Writing like a press release in a room where everyone talks like a person.
- 04The wrong ratio. When most of an account's history is self-serving, the history itself is the evidence. Mods check.
02 · How to
How to market on Reddit without getting banned
- 01Warmed, Dstro-owned accounts with real posting history. Never your brand account, never a profile created last Tuesday.
- 02Subreddit-by-subreddit norms. Every community has different rules about promotion, and the written rules are the minimum. We learn what each one actually tolerates and rewards.
- 03Ratio discipline. The overwhelming majority of activity is genuinely useful answers with nothing in them for us.
- 04Answers that stand up on their own. Every comment should be worth its upvotes even if we never point at anything.
- 05The pointer appears only when your content is honestly the best answer in the thread. That's what keeps accounts alive for years instead of weeks.
03 · Output
A Reddit answer is an asset, not a post.
Two things come out of this work. First, presence in threads that rank in Google for years. A good answer in the right thread gets found by every buyer who searches that question from now on. Second, the buyer language that feeds everything else in the system: the content, the outbound, the publishing voice.
